Complete Guide to RecipeResize.com

Master ratio scaling for any application - from cooking to construction

What This App Does

RecipeResize.com is a universal ratio scaling calculator that works for ANY proportional mixture - not just food recipes. Whether you're cooking for a crowd, mixing hydroponic nutrients, or batching concrete, this tool ensures perfect proportions every time.

🔢 Ratio Scaling

Scale any recipe up or down while maintaining exact proportions

⚖️ Unit Conversion

Convert between different measurement systems instantly

💾 Save Presets

Store your favorite mixtures for quick access

🖨️ Print Recipes

Generate clean, printable recipe cards

How It Works

Enter your original recipe ingredients, their quantities and the unit of measurement. Once you lock the proportions, when you change the quantity of any ingredient, the rest of the recipe will automatically scale while keeping the same proportions. You can also switch between metric and imperial units as needed, and save your scaled recipes as presets for future use.

🍳 Food & Cooking Applications

Use RecipeResize.com to scale recipes for cooking, baking, or meal prep. Whether you're adjusting a family recipe or scaling up for a party, this tool makes it easy.

Basic Cooking Example: Pancakes for 8 People

Tip: Enter the Serving Size as your first row. After locking, adjusting the serving size will cause the other ingredients to scale automatically.

Original Recipe (Serves 2)

  • Serving Size: 2
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp sugar

Scaled Recipe (Serves 8)

  • Serving Size: 8
  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tbsp sugar

Advanced Cooking: Baker's Percentages

For some recipes, it's better to measure your ingredients by percentage. Here's how to do it: add your ingredients, and under Qty, enter the percentage number without the % symbol. Set the units to all be the same—grams, for example. Remember to "Lock" the recipe. Now you can change the Qty or Units as needed. For example, you can make bread dough using exactly 465 grams of flour, and all the other ingredient amounts will automatically adjust to match.

Bread Dough Formula

  • Flour: 100% (465g)
  • Water: 75% (348.75g)
  • Salt: 2% (9.3g)
  • Yeast: 1% (4.65g)

⚖️ Unit Conversion

It's really easy to convert between units. Once the recipe is locked, changing the Unit of an Ingredient will automatically adjust the quantities. Note: You can only change within the same unit type. Volume to Volume and Weight to Weight.

  • Metric to Imperial: 250g flour = 8.8185 ounces
  • Liquid conversions: 500ml milk = 2.11 cups = 16.9 fl oz
  • Small measurements: 5ml vanilla = 1 teaspoon

🌱 Hydroponics & Gardening

Use RecipeResize.com to mix nutrient solutions for hydroponic systems. Enter your base nutrient ratios and scale them for any tank size.

For example, if you have a nutrient solution that requires 2.4g of Masterblend 4-18-38 per gallon, you can easily scale it up for larger systems. This is actually the reason behind this calculator; odd sized containers made it hard for me to correctly measure out the ingredients. I needed something that could scale the formula as I required. So I build this tool.

Masterblend Tomato Formula

Per 1 Gallon Water

  • Water: 1 gallon
  • Masterblend 4-18-38: 2.4g
  • Calcium Nitrate: 2.4g
  • Epsom Salt: 1.2g

Scaling for 5 Gallons

  • Water: 5 gallons
  • Masterblend 4-18-38: 12g
  • Calcium Nitrate: 12g
  • Epsom Salt: 6g

Lettuce Formula (Milder)

  • Water: 1 gallon
  • Masterblend 4-18-38: 2g
  • Calcium Nitrate: 2g
  • Epsom Salt: 1g

General Hydroponics Flora Series

Mix according to growth stage ratios:

Vegetative Stage (3-2-1 ratio): 1 Liter

  • Water: 1 liter
  • FloraGro: 3ml
  • FloraMicro: 2ml
  • FloraBloom: 1ml
